is this a bug or me missing something? either way it would be a great help to minimise this as it is no fun doing this and it is restrictive on progress.

It's gotten impossibly hard, even on highest armor. I dropped from the highest armor down a notch, and now I can get hit multiple times. I don't know if it's a bug with the highest armor or not, or just changing it helped, but this fixed it for me. It was showing highest Defense, yet one hit would do damage most of my car. Now I can take several hits without blowing up randomly.
Hopefully this fixed it permanently for me, cause wow, it was downright impossible with this bug. EDIT: I went back to the highest armor, and the problem seems to be fixed now. I think just changing armor down to another one, then back again, fixed it.
